Since 1889, Slippery Rock University has been transforming lives and shaping communities. From our founding in 1889 as a Normal School on the rolling hills of Butler County, The Rock has evolved into a nationally recognized, comprehensive university, and we continue to grow as our alumni help build a stronger region.
Because this is The Rock is our first comprehensive campaign in 30 years, grounded in the priorities of our strategic plan Slippery Rock University, The First Choice. The campaign is not only about philanthropic investment. It is about supporting our students, our faculty, our alumni, and the entire Rock family.
Every gift is an investment in a plan carefully crafted by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners who believe that The Rock is, and must remain, a first choice for students, a first choice for employers, and a first choice for our region.

“At Slippery Rock, I’ve found a place that challenges me academically while supporting me through mentorship, career preparation, and a welcoming community.
The opportunities and resources here help me build a strong foundation for my future and I know that wouldn’t be possible without the support of the university community.”
